      Meet the Team

Hi, I’m Martha, Dr. Mha Atma’s wife. I was born in San Francisco, California in 1953 and grew up in Sacramento. After attending college briefly, I became interested in yoga and meditation and pursued intensive study of those disciplines and Eastern philosophy in San Rafael, California where I met and married Dr. Mha Atma.

While raising our first son, I worked at various jobs to put Dr. Mha Atma through chiropractic school. After he graduated, we had a second son and I began to work at Khalsa Chiropractic. When I was pregnant with our daughter, I started working part-time at home for our practice so I could focus on taking care of our three wonderful children. Now that they are all very grown up and independent I am once again enjoying working in the office here at Khalsa Chiropractic.

I enjoy walking and hiking, singing and reading. I enjoy people and my family and friends very, very much. I am passionate about learning.

I love to learn about people, cultures, history, current events and then contemplate the connections between them all and focus on hopeful solutions to our many challenges as a global community.

Hi, my name is Esperanza Zayas. In English, Esperanza means Hope, which is what all my friends call me. I was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, but I have lived in Los Angeles since 1969. I graduated with a degree in Business Administration. I am fluent in both English and Spanish so... feel free to converse!

I've been happily married for many years, and I have a beautiful daughter in her first year of college who is very active in sports. My favorite pastime is crocheting the night away and volunteering at various charity and school functions.

I started working at Khalsa Chiropractic in August 1995. My duties here are to take care of patients at the front desk and do the billing for the whole office. I am in charge of all health, Personal Injury and Worker's Compensation insurance for our patients. I enjoy my work very much because I love working with people! Rest assured that, with my presence on the staff, there is definitely a lot of "Hope" and Healing at Khalsa Chiropractic.

Hi there! I’m Mikaela. Welcome. I know I sure felt welcome when I was a patient here. Yes, I was a patient here for two years before I began working here, and now I’ve been happily working here for five years.

I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UCSB many moons ago…had my own practice as a hypnotherapist and Reiki Master—then traveled and lived overseas quite a bit—New Zealand mostly—where I began living my passion of writing, working in both theater and film production—then landed here in Los Angeles to pursue a screenwriting career.

But, of course, I’ve learned that the universe often has different plans than our egos may have, fortunately they are always more fulfilling. Last year in meditation, the title of a book flashed before my mind’s eye, “The Little Book of Light: 100 Ways to Bring Light Into Your Life,” – since that moment my goals and time have shifted considerably.

After five years, I’ve gone to part-time so that I can devote more time to working on the Little Book of Light series as well as a workshop, “Living With Delight” that has been born as a result. My purpose as well as the book’s purpose is to help people know their light and live with delight—first by being a mirror, and second, by providing ways that will help one be, feel, and act from their essence, which is light & love. To check out my website, visit: www.littlebookoflight.com.

Here’s to shining bright!  Love & light, Mikaela

Hi. My name is Simran. I am originally from St. Louis, MO.  As a young person I started studying yoga and meditation. This led me to the lifestyle I’ve been involved with for the past 30 years. I am a Sikh; that is why I wear a turban. My practice includes Kundalini yoga, meditation and vegetarianism. In 1979 I came to Los Angeles, and met and married my husband.  Together we have three children.

When the children got older I started working with my husband in the clothing business he had started in 1976.  I have worked with him for the past twelve years. I am now honored to be joining the staff at Khalsa Chiropractic—a very warm and healing place.

Hi, my name is Rosanna.  I joined Khalsa Chiropractic in the Summer of 2006.  I have been doing massage work since 1990.  My specialty is structural integration.  I work on injury specific areas using deep tissue and unwinding techniques that I have learned along the way.  I look forward to helping you gain a greater mobility and a sense of vitality in your lives.  Khalsa Chiropractic is a great team!

Hello,  my name is Vivian.  I have been a working Massage Therapist for 19 years.   I approach massage with the intention of creating more space and movement in the body.

My work is deep but gentle and my favorite part of the body to work on is the head and neck.  I have developed my own style of work that includes gentle stretches and results in increased range of movement.  I also like working on the jaw and face.  Most people don't realize how much tension is held in that part of the body.

I was recently hired by the American Career College as an instructor and am currently working as a substitute while I wait for my own class.  I am thrilled be able to share my knowledge and experience with the students.

I have also run Hands-On Mobile Massage for the past 13 years.  We specialize in providing chair massages at offices and events. (www.hands-onmobilemassage.com)

I worked at Khalsa Chiropractic a few years ago and returned last November. It is nice to be back in this warm environment.
