JANA EDWARDS

For at least two years I was having back pain so severe that it interrupted my work, sleep and play.  The pain was in my lower and middle back and also in my neck.  It caused sleepless nights and I had no concentration ability at work.  It became a continuous problem.  I took Advil—that was no help.  I was also prescribed Vicodin and that made me very sick so I discontinued it.

I had never had a chiropractic adjustment in my life.  I was referred to Khalsa Chiropractic by my Kaiser physician in June 2007.  I was totally afraid of the word chiropractor.  I doubted that it would help.  But I wanted some relief—quickly and safely.  I also wanted to understand how and why my body was having these problems, and no one had been able to explain it to me.

I found Dr. Mha Atma and the office to be very professional and caring. He recommended twice weekly and then once-weekly adjustments, explaining every step of an adjustment and what I should expect from my visits.  I was very glad that the doctor called me the day after my first adjustment just to see how I was feeling.

Now, after about six months, the pain is very minimal.  I am sleeping much better, able to concentrate, and just enjoying life.  Dr. Mha Atma also gave me a lot of information about nutrition and exercise which has helped me tremendously.  I now know that chiropractic is truly wonderful.  When I have a chance, I explain the process to people who may be afraid (as I was).  Thank you!

GAIL BRAUNER

I had just moved back to California from out of state and had all the strains and stresses of a long-distance move.  My shoulders and upper back felt very tight and my range of motion was limited.  I also had worked at an office job for years and had tension from sitting at a desk too long.

I’ve actually been a fan of chiropractic for years and had been seeing someone in Minnesota.  It always made me feel better but I still had some stress in my upper body.  A friend of a friend recommended Khalsa Chiropractic so I came to the Wellness Workshop.  I was very impressed with Dr. Mha Atma’s knowledge and the staff’s professionalism and helpful attitude.  I found the atmosphere in the office very welcoming.

When I came in as a patient shortly after the workshop, Dr. Mha Atma recommended weekly treatments until my condition stabilized.  Now after two months I’m feeling greater range of motion in my upper back and shoulders, less tension, and even a more positive attitude.  It’s brought me more inner peace and relaxation too!

I’m feeling really great now and look forward to regular maintenance visits.  I would definitely recommend chiropractic to others.  I’ve always believed in chiropractic, but Dr. Mha Atma has helped take my body and spirit to a whole new level!

ARON WOERTINK

For a couple of months I had lower back pain and numbness throughout my left leg.  I had difficulty sleeping, difficulty focusing during the day, and a lack of energy.  I also had neck discomfort.  I was unable to pick my children up.  I could not stand up and play with them—not good.

My wife came to Khalsa Chiropractic and raved about her visit and about the professionalism of the doctor and staff.  I had been to a chiropractor before and had no doubt that it would help.  When I first came to the office, it felt like home.  There was great music, treats, and tea.  I trusted the doctor instantly, and the staff as well.

Most doctors have not taken the time to understand the issues and proper treatments needed to become well.  Dr. Mha Atma follows through and monitors the results.  He had me come for adjustments twice a week for several weeks, then once weekly.  He gave me various exercises for stretching and strengthening my back.  Gradually my body became more limber and relaxed.  I can focus easier on work and have more energy—two-fold.  In short, I feel amazing, and I sleep better too.

My wife has benefited from treatment here…and now she is less cranky with me!  I absolutely recommend chiropractic and have talked to many family members and friends about it.  I’m sold.  I would come here every day if I could.

CHIKO & PAULETTA FLOYD

Although we’ve both had treatments with many chiropractors over the years, we’ve never experienced such techniques and results as we have received from Dr. Mha Atma.  My husband Chiko was experiencing painful headaches and lower back pain and had limited movement in his neck.  I was seen for shoulder pain as well as severe back spasms (sometimes so bad I couldn’t move) and foot pain.

On the initial visits Dr. Mha Atma took time to enlighten us about how the nerves in our spine have a direct link to every organ of the body in some way.  He explained that regular adjustments could eliminate many problems including those we sometimes don’t realize we have.  I must say that in the beginning we were a bit skeptical—after all we have gone down this road so many times before.  What could he do that the others hadn’t done already?

But we must admit that our experience at Khalsa Chiropractic has made a great difference in our lifestyle.  The personal care and professional treatment we’ve received at the Khalsa Chiropractic facility have truly been a blessing.  And we also love the fact that there is almost no waiting time getting in for your appointment—now that’s a real blessing.

Thank you for enhancing our lives and helping to improve our health.

MONICA SABREDA

I first came to Khalsa Chiropractic looking for relief from severe pain in my right arm and neck pain.  I was recommended to Dr. Mha Atma by someone whom I was working with at the time.

It was not my first experience with chiropractic.  I was bedridden as a child and was seeing all kinds of medical specialists and not getting any better.  I was receiving home tutoring in bed and could not use my hands to write.  I was willing to try anything, and when someone suggested that my mother take me to a chiropractor, my life changed and I got better.

Dr. Mha Atma recommended chiropractic adjustments and exercise.  He also recommended listening to my body, which is the best advice anyone could give.  I never experienced the instant noticeable relief that I have with being treated at Khalsa Chiropractic.  It was often difficult for other chiropractors to adjust me and they were not as gentle.  I had very positive results from my initial treatment and I continue to come to keep my body aligned—it is an ongoing process.

I have continued with chiropractic care because of the physical stress of my profession (physical work and lots of traveling) and my preexisting conditions—I need to continue to maintain my body with regular adjustments.  Ongoing chiropractic treatment has kept my body from falling apart, from developing pinched nerves, and other horrible things.

I love chiropractic care.  I wouldn’t trade it for any other form of treatment.  I recommend it to everyone I know as a way to relieve pain without using drugs and to really be able to work through it by listening to your body.  My advice to beginning chiropractic patients is that it benefits you more long term—stick with it and follow the doctor’s instructions and it will work.

This office has always accommodated my hectic schedule with loving kindness.  I couldn’t be seeing a better chiropractor.   I was very blessed to find this office.  I feel everyone at this office has your best interest at heart and everyone works together to make your treatment easy and enjoyable.

RAYE DOWELL

I discovered Khalsa Chiropractic after being in a car accident in Utah.  I experienced shock and pain in my lower back and neck.  I was taken to the emergency room immediately after the accident where they gave me pain killers that numbed the pain and made me feel drowsy and “out of it.”  When the drugs wore off the pain returned and persisted.  I knew there had to be a more holistic way to treat my symptoms of headaches and back pain.  I knew it was time to try something new.

Someone in my Kundalini yoga class recommended I check out Dr. Mha Atma.  I decided, after hearing about the powerful benefits of chiropractic care, that I should give Khalsa Chiropractic a try.  I had been to a chiropractor before only once, a long long time before, and I really wasn’t sure about it.  But the recommendations I had were such strong testimonials that I had faith in the positive benefits.

My first impression was that the office seemed cozy and nurturing.  I had to surrender any notion of what to expect so I could be present for the experience.  I found Dr. Mha Atma to be knowledgeable and thorough.

The treatment was a slow and steady process.  I felt that chiropractic care along with my Kundalini yoga practice helped release the shock and pain from my lower back.  I am happy to say that I continue to be a patient ten years later.  I find that my body, after giving birth to two sons, really appreciates and feels better after every adjustment.  I have less migraines and more flexibility.   And by continuing the work I am able to see and feel where and when my spine and my life are stuck.

During my time as a patient here my husband discovered the benefits of chiropractic care, and my children have also had adjustments.  I have shared my experience of chiropractic with many friends.  I recommend it as an excellent tool to feel better—body, mind and spirit!  I suggest that if you are just beginning chiropractic care not to judge it right way—allow it to have a cumulative effect and you will see the benefits.

I feel very positive about my chiropractic care and find it extraordinarily beneficial.  The doctor and staff at Khalsa Chiropractic really care about the patients and support us to be proactive about self-care and maintaining optimum health.

IRIS PATTON

After a long and ugly separation and divorce my former husband remarried June 3, 2007. Shortly after his marriage I found myself unable to walk without the help of a cane. The debilitating pain radiating from my back and down my left leg had been building since the beginning of the year. I had been going to a chiropractor and getting massages but nothing they seemed to do made the pain go away and not come back. About four weeks after his marriage the pain in my body gradually began to subside. Finally, feeling pain and anguish free, I decided to single handily remove an overgrown Boston fern from my back yard. The working of my muscles, the sweat, and expenditure of energy felt good. I was putting things in order. Tired and hungry, I decided to push a little more and round out my efforts for the day. In that last little push which consisted of bending over with a 6 or 7 lb hedge trimmer, I could feel an old back injury resurface and give way.

The pain that ripped through my mind and body made it difficult to lie down, to walk, to drive, to sit. I called on others to help me. They drove me to my appointments, gave me crutches, and brought me food. The massage therapists I tried were clueless. I only hurt myself more with their treatments and recommendations. The chiropractor I had been seeing before this incident did not seem to acknowledge the severity of my pain. He gave me the same treatment he had given me before my back injury and told me I would get past it. I changed chiropractors. The next doctor took an x-ray which showed a compressed disk. He suggested I get an MRI and prescriptions for oral steroidals and pain medication. I did all three. Then my mother arrived and immediately took over. My mother took me to a doctor who did ultrasound and used a vibrating device called a Thumper. Even though I loathed the idea of taking drugs I found I needed them just to deal with my pain, my mother and that man using that Thumper on my back. The only thing that saved me was my mother bringing me home to LA.

All of September I just let my body heal. Somewhere during that period I met Kylia, a friend of my niece, who told her about my back. Kylia gave me her story about how Dr. Mha Atma helped her and her father. I was impressed. I decided to give Dr. Mha Atma a try—and I am grateful I did.

When I walked into the office I immediately felt comfortable. The water, the tea, the apples—everyone was so thoughtful, so open, so warm and non-judgmental. I needed that. I gave Dr. Mha Atma the diagnosis of my MRI and he treated me with such gentleness and concern. The exercises he gave me and encouragement were just what I needed to heal. His class on diet, posture, and emotional and mental trauma affirmed my own beliefs. His use of the acupressure points allowed me to move my healing to another level with acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

After just over two months I am sitting and sleeping without pain. I walk without crutches and twinges in my lumbar spine are gradually becoming less and less. I can also do my exercises without pain. I still need to work on consistency and duration, but I am coming along quite well. I am pleased.

Thank you Dr. Mha Atma for helping me,

YUMA PEREZ

I first came to Khalsa Chiropractic because my back was stuck and I couldn’t move.  I had the problem for over a year.  It was painful.

I had never been to a chiropractor because of all the stories you hear.  But I was at the point where I couldn’t walk and I figured I had to get over my fear of doctors and do something.  Then a friend recommended Dr. Mha Atma,

I had lots of doubts, and I didn’t understand that your body needs to be maintained, just like anything else.  When I finally came, my experience was very positive.  The doctor was someone whom I could trust, and everyone in the entire office was very friendly and had great positive energy.

Dr. Mha Atma recommended I come see him twice a week and gave me exercises to strengthen my back.  I also came to the Wellness Workshop.  I gradually went from coming twice a week to once per month.  Now I’m able to walk without pain and I feel good.  I also have changed my way of thinking to a more positive attitude.

I have been a patient at Khalsa Chiropractic for almost two years now.  I keep coming because monthly adjustments continue to keep my body healthy and happy.  People who saw me before I started chiropractic treatment and see me now notice the difference and I tell them that it pays to be disciplined about maintaining your health.

I am very open now to trying different experiences and I have learned that it was fear that kept me from being well.  You reap what you sow.  Life is about choices and positive thinking.  If I say I feel great and do what it takes to get there I will.

PAULETTE SEAGRAVES

I first came to see Dr. Mha Atma many years ago at the insistence of a very dear friend who told me that chiropractic would improve my heath.  I had no pain at the time, and was skeptical because my two previous experiences going to chiropractors had not been positive.

Despite my resistance, I did come to Khalsa Chiropractic, and the office and Dr. Mha Atma made an immediate and excellent impression on me.  I found Khalsa Chiropractic to be a true oasis of health and well-being.  I found that chiropractic adjustment—and later the massage treatments I received here—provided a wonderful support for good health and life alignment!

Regular chiropractic adjustments have made a big difference in my life.  I found that they align both my body and my life.  They were especially helpful through eight years of dealing with chronic fatigue syndrome.  Chiropractic treatment has given me a sense of alignment, balance, greater flexibility and increased well being.

I talk about chiropractic care to everyone who will listen.  My brother and sister-in-law in Seattle have found it very helpful.  I highly recommend chiropractic for any physical concern and to maintain and enhance good health.  My advice to new chiropractic patients is to keep chiropractic adjustments regular and routine—you are worth the investment!

Chiropractic has changed my life—and has supported me through life’s changes.  Dr. Mha Atma is the best chiropractor.  This office really is an oasis of balance, healing and good health.  And the staff is excellent, warm, caring and supportive!

MIYA SUMI

For two years I had pain in my hips and lower back when I was walking, standing or sitting.  I saw a physical therapist for six months and they never gave me a diagnosis.  The treatment never helped and sometimes I felt more pain.  Acupuncture was helpful but too expensive to continue.

I discovered that my insurance would cover chiropractic, and I knew several Khalsa Chiropractic patients, including my mom, who all highly recommended I come.  I had only been to a chiropractor once or twice before, and I was not certain it would help.

Everyone at the office here was nice, the setting was comfortable, and the doctor was very helpful.  Besides chiropractic treatment, he recommended exercise, drinking lots of water, and that I eat certain foods and stay away from others.

Now after a few months the pain and stiffness have greatly improved.  The treatments are efficient—I am in and out of the office quickly, and it’s only a five minute drive from work.  Now I’m working on getting a few folks to see Dr. Mha Atma.  I highly recommend trying chiropractic care before seeing a medical doctor for the type of problems I had.

Chiropractic is a great option for getting better.  I appreciate that everyone at Khalsa Chiropractic  has been very nice and helpful.  And I really like Dr. Mha Atma’s efforts toward making the world a better place.

MICHELLE SULLIVAN

For many years I had escalating stiffness and pain in my neck and lower back and low energy.  I could not turn my neck to the right or left freely and completely and I always felt uncomfortable.  I used Advil but I dislike taking any medications.  I used Tiger Balm.  Any relief I got from acupuncture and massage was only temporary.

I couldn’t stand feeling uncomfortable any more.  The medieval torture rack sounded like relief.

I had never been to a chiropractor before I came to Khalsa Chiropractic. The office was soothing and caring and holistic.  Dr. Mha Atma told me that half my spine and most of my neck was stuck and I should have come years ago.  I started coming for adjustments twice a week.  After two months I feel 100 percent better, with more freedom of movement and no pain or stiffness.  My energy and mood never felt so good.

Yes, I’ve been telling my friends about chiropractic.  I love chiropractic care with Dr. Mha Atma.

SEAN CLARK

I had severe pain in my neck and back and was bedridden and unable to work for three weeks.  My entire neck and upper and middle back were painful.  It was so severe that I could not move my neck at all for three weeks.  All the doctors at Kaiser wanted to do was fill me with medication and take x-rays.  I was taking Vicodin, muscle relaxants, and anti-inflammatories.  The Vicodin made me feel bad.

I was desperate, and a friend strongly recommended that I see Dr. Mha Atma.  I had never been to a chiropractor before, but I am open-minded and thought it was worth trying.

The staff here was very friendly.  Dr. Mha Atma, and his back-up doctor Dr. Manjit, are very easy to trust and have an amazing presence.  Dr. Mha Atma recommended three months of regular treatments with occasional follow-up visits, along with exercise, a healthy diet, and proper sleep.  Within a week my neck was moving noticeably better, within three weeks my neck and back were 70 percent better, and now after two months my body feels completely different.  I am exercising, swimming, lifting weights and taking care of my body.

I absolutely would recommend chiropractic to anyone who is open-minded enough to try it.  I feel very positive about it.  And the staff is great!

TOM ALVAREZ

I was in a car accident which resulted in chronic neck and shoulder pain. The pain was constant and very distracting.  I saw a physical therapist but the pain persisted.

My friend Jillian recommended Khalsa Chiropractic.  I had never been to a chiropractor before but I had a favorable impression because my sister had been a lobbyist representing chiropractors in Sacramento.  I didn’t know for sure if chiropractic would help, but I didn’t want to try a traditional doctor due to their “drugs and surgery first” approach.

From day one, the doctor and the staff have been helpful.  Dr. Mha Atma is talented and insightful.  The treatment has been very successful.  Initially I followed Dr. Mha Atma’s recommendation for frequent visits and to use a special neck pillow which I still use today.  Now, I feel much better, my concentration at work is stronger, and my sleep patterns are greatly improved.

I did later have another auto accident and knew where to come.  I have been coming to Dr. Mha Atma for several years now and my condition has improved greatly, although continued maintenance—once to twice monthly—is necessary.  My body now tells me when I need an adjustment.

I have told many others about chiropractic.  I recommended it to my fiancé in North Dakota.  I told her that chiropractic care is important but find a doctor she can trust.

Now she is hooked.

If you have recently started chiropractic care, I suggest you stay consistent with treatments and keep a positive mental attitude.  I believe chiropractic is the pinnacle of preventative care.

KIMBERLY SIMPSON

I came to Khalsa Chiropractic because I was experiencing debilitating pain in my lower back.  The pain also shot down my left leg.  It had reached the point that my feet were numb almost all of the time.  My lower back had troubled me for about eight years, becoming progressively worse.  It got so extreme that I spent almost an entire month flat on my back in bed.  I could barely work and I would have to lie on the floor for 5-10 minutes to make it bearable to sit at my desk for another 5 minutes.

When I first began having chronic lower back issues, I took anti-inflammatory drugs every day, which provided some relief.  Eventually the doctor prescribed painkillers, which made me itch and completely spaced out.  I was tired all the time and STILL in pain!  I saw two different physical therapists with no results.

I started acupuncture treatments with Guru Dev Khalsa, which were really helping.  She suggested I combine her treatments with chiropractic and recommended Dr. Mha Atma.  I had tried chiropractic before, but only on a sporadic basis.  I thought it would probably help, but I was afraid my case was too severe.

Immediately upon entering the office I knew I had made a great decision.  The staff is so wonderful and supportive and I felt like this was a great place to heal.  Dr. Mha Atma recommended I get adjusted twice a week and also discussed my diet and lifestyle choices.

My results have been amazing.  I wake up every day, grateful to be able to perform simple tasks (like picking something up off the floor) free of pain.  What a gift!  It has been about seven months and I now come just once every three weeks.  I feel stronger and that encourages me to continue investing in my own health.  I have hurt myself a few times, but each time Dr. Mha Atma has been available to help me through it.  So much better than being in pain on my own…and quicker too!

My mom is a chiropractic patient.  She loves chiropractic.  Her problems aren’t as severe as mine but she says it feels good to go in and get straightened out.  I would recommend chiropractic to everyone!  I’ve told countless people about the benefits I have experienced.  I feel chiropractic care is invaluable and amazing. Thank you Dr. Mha Atma and Khalsa Chiropractic!  Just when I was starting to lose hope, you gave me back my health.  I am thankful every day for this priceless gift.

TOM FOWLER

I had serious lower back pain for more than five years.  It was very uncomfortable when sitting and driving.  I could not drive more than 30 minutes without pain.

I visited two neurosurgeons and a general practitioner.  When I explained my pain to the second neurosurgeon, the top one in Indiana, he tested me for strength and resistance and told me that I was getting older but not old enough for spinal fusion.  He advised me to get used to the pain or to take over-the-counter pain killers.  I took ibuprofen, but I did not want to take it long-term.

My daughter Jill Morand convinced me to come to Khalsa Chiropractic.  She was treated by Dr. Mha Atma for a back and neck injury suffered in a car accident.  She had very good results.   I was skeptical but, as I’m sure is often the case, I had been misinformed regarding the benefits and effectiveness of chiropractic.

The office was warm and friendly—a relaxed environment.  Dr. Mha Atma recommended regular treatments along with exercises and a healthier diet.  I felt better immediately after the first treatment, and gradually improved with each subsequent visit.

I am skeptical by nature.  But chiropractic has helped me greatly.  Some days now pass with very little or no pain.  And I feel that if I exercise more and can maintain an anti-inflammatory diet, I might eliminate all pain.

I would now absolutely recommend chiropractic to anyone who wants to feel better and be healthier.  I am very supportive of chiropractic care and would especially recommend that anyone try it before considering more radical solutions.

I very much appreciate the friendliness and flexibility of the office staff.  Chiropractic has definitely improved my quality of life and general overall attitude.

GAYATHRI NARAYAN

For over four years my upper back, shoulders, lower back and hip were painful.  The pain started four years ago after the birth of my first child, and then was aggravated during and after my second pregnancy.   I tried massage treatments and another chiropractor with no tangible relief.  My dear friend Rachel recommended Dr. Mha Atma to me.  I am so happy I took her advice!

I had doubts about chiropractic because I felt that it would take too long to help and that the fix would not be permanent.  When I did come to this office, a few months after my second child was born, I found that Dr. Mha Atma and his staff are genuinely warm, friendly and wanting to heal the people who walk through their doors.  Dr. Mha Atma recommended regular chiropractic care, exercise and a healthy diet.

Within a couple of sessions I felt so much relief.  Within two months of the recommended treatment schedule my back and shoulders were feeling so much better.  Now I see Dr. Mha Atma once every two weeks to maintain the correction.

My husband and my mother have come to this office as well, and chiropractic has definitely helped them.  My mother had tried so many treatments for her problem with no success.  She has experienced the most relief of anyone in our family under Dr. Mha Atma’s care.

I am a big believer in chiropractic now!  I have recommended Dr. Mha Atma to so many people already!  I plan to continue to see Dr. Mha Atma for long-term correction of the problem even if it’s just once a month.  The stresses of life can catch up with you and chiropractic care is so efficient at helping you maintain good health and posture.

Dr. Mha Atma has a very holistic approach to help his patients on the road to good health.  He is honest, systematic and committed to his profession and patients.  Mikaela and Simran are such angels!  They are efficient and warm and friendly.  You almost never have to wait at the office.  I wholeheartedly endorse Khalsa Chiropractic!

SYLVIE HAINES

I had very severe pain behind my left shoulder and pretty much all over my body.  The severe pain had persisted for three days when a Khalsa Chiropractic patient suggested I come here.  She said it had really helped her with her back problems.  I had never been to a chiropractor before and had no idea if it would help.

The office and Dr. Mha Atma seemed very unpretentious, welcoming and warm.  I was intrigued by the wide range of people coming for treatment.  Dr. Mha Atma has a very gentle healing manner.

He suggested that I come for treatment twice a week.  I felt better quickly.  It didn’t take much time.  In terms of body care chiropractic is definitely a huge “bang for your buck.”  I felt overall lightness in my body, and improved digestion and flexibility.

I now totally and absolutely recommend chiropractic.  I’ve told countless people about it.  I’m pretty sure I will continue chiropractic care, even if just occasionally, for adjustments and to make sure “everything’s okay.”

Prior to this experience, I had no idea how pretty much all bodily functions are influenced by the health of your spine.  It’s made me realize how everything is truly interconnected and that overall health is really the goal.

KEISHA CHANDLER

I had severe pain behind my right shoulder blade, and pain on both sides of my neck, for about four months.  If I had to rate my pain on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it an 11.  I would have to cross my arm across my chest to try and relieve it.  I didn’t take any medication, but I spent a lot of money on the little heating pads you adhere to your skin.

I found Dr. Mha Atma’s website, which was very informative, and when I called the staff person I spoke to on the phone was so kind and reassuring that I felt I was in good hands.  I had been to a chiropractor before and I thought it would help, but I was concerned that the problem might not be related to muscles or skeletal misalignment.

Everyone was so nice here.  From the first phone contact to Dr. Mha Atma’s exam I felt as though I was in the right place.  Dr. Mha Atma recommended that I come for treatment two to three times a week at first and once a week for a while thereafter.  The first few treatments were painful.  But after the third adjustment I began to feel better.  He provided me with handouts, stretches, and breathing techniques to ease pain and encourage relaxation.

Now I feel great.  I absolutely, without a doubt, recommend chiropractic care to others who want to feel and stay better.  I think it should be a regular part of one’s health maintenance.

It is rare that I come in contact with a true healer and practitioner of health and wellness.  I consider myself lucky and blessed to have found Khalsa Chiropractic.  Thank you to all!

LIAN MANN

I came to Khalsa Chiropractic because of symptoms of stress—headaches and stiffness.  I had acute headaches and lower back pain.  These symptoms were chronic—ongoing over many years.  The headaches left me incapacitated for two days at least once a month  To deal with theses problems, I iced my back regularly, I self medicated with aspirin, and periodically I exercised.

I have always interpreted these symptoms to be the result of stress so I never pursued any treatment.  When I had an attack of diverticulitis, I decided to pursue treatment for stress, as well as nutritional counseling.  My friend who is a patient of Dr. Mha Atma suggested I come here.  I had never been to a chiropractor before and I was skeptical because I never understood the theory or the actual practice.

It helped that my friend brought me to my first appointment.  The office operates beautifully—very impressive.  Dr. Mha Atma’s evaluation process was very interesting as well as helpful.  He analyzed locations along my spine that were locked and determined that he could relieve the stiffness and, most likely, alleviate the headaches.

I am very pleased that I have undertaken this process.  I almost never have headaches now and, not only am I less stiff, I feel less stress in my body.  My general well-being has improved.

My husband is a patient here as well—spinal adjustments are always helpful to him.  He had come years before I did, but it took my friend’s insistence to get me here.

I would recommend Dr. Mha Atma to others—he is my only experience with chiropractic care.  I have told many of my other family members about this office.  I now embrace the theory of chiropractic.  Dr. Mha Atma’s practice has made a significant improvement in my well being.  I understand that I need to engage in a regular exercise, yoga and nutrition plan to sustain and build on my gains.  But I will continue with my periodic care with Dr. Mha Atma.

JILL MORAND

I was in a bad car crash.  After the accident I was taken to the emergency room in an ambulance.  The physicians told me that nothing was broken and I should rest for two weeks. The pain and stiffness were from the top of my neck to the bottom of my spine and I could do little more than be in bed and walk stiffly.  The treatment was Vicodin and Flexaril with refills.  I reluctantly used them the first two days, but found that I could not take care of my daughter, drive, or carry on a decent conversation while on them.  I needed a better approach that would allow me to parent, work, rest and heal in a way that would better serve me long term.

I quit using medication just three days after the accident so I could pay attention to the pain, be sensitive to the needs of my body and treat it holistically.  I knew that chiropractic would offer me this and Dr. Mha Atma came highly recommended—my dear friend Susan Allen referred me.  I had chiropractic care in the past and found relief and, until the crash, was pain free with an active, athletic life.

I knew I needed chiropractic care to be able to use my back and neck—to regain range of motion and decrease the pain that continued to wear me down daily.

Initially I saw Dr. Mha Atma twice a week and maintained a very healthy whole foods diet.  On Dr. Mha Atma’s advice, I cut caffeine out of my life.  I now see him every two weeks and feel better and sleep more soundly than I have in a long time.  The neck pain is nearly gone and my back only bothers me when I am sitting in positions that are not ergonomically correct.  I am back to doing yoga three times a week.

A couple of months into treatment I referred my father to Khalsa Chiropractic.  He has had back pain for as long as I can remember, associated with herniated discs and lifestyle/work situations.  My father is now seeing Dr. Mha Atma more regularly as he realizes that care beyond the initial pain relief stage is essential.  I will continue to tell others about Dr. Mha Atma and the benefits of chiropractic.  All of my friends know that this is the reason I have found such relief since the crash.

Chiropractic has helped me over the years to deal with everything from sports and military training related pain to this recent crash that left me in more pain than ever.  I hope that anyone who experiences back or neck pain will allow themselves the opportunity to find the relief and healing that chiropractic can offer. Dr. Mha Atma and all of the staff have been so warm and accommodating—they have been the greatest players in my healing over the past 4 ½ months.

When I first came to Khalsa Chiropractic I was desperate.  I couldn’t sleep and my neck was hurting all the time.  After my first visit, I went for a hike—and felt the difference.  I felt, well, at peace.

The weekly visits that followed were not so sweet, due to yes, let’s say it:  Evil-evil For-Profit Health Insurance Company not wanting to help my pay—but I went through the three months of weekly visits and go my messed up skeleton in order and then paid a small amount eery month to keep well-adjusted—always feeling very released and happy afterwards and sort of sleepy too—I always sleep better the night after an adjustment.

Well, after several years the Evil Health Insurance people decided that mine/their money should only go to pain medication pills and going under the knife, instead of getting a simple monthly adjustment.  All of a sudden—I had to pay in full for the monthly visits—and I couldn’t do it.  At first nothing seemed really to change—my sore areas: neck and lower back (to the side) were there, but manageable.  I even thought yeah it was just my mind that thought that I was actually benefiting from chiropractic care—but as the months passed things did get worse.  I couldn’t sleep as well as I used to, I was getting tingling sensations in the areas of my back and hands—and most importantly—I did not feel the peace of mind I had carried with me—and had forgotten that I hadn’t had—before Khalsa.  Basically, I was all nerves.

I came back slowly to Khalsa Chiropractic, always feeling afterwards the same relief in my body.  I wish I didn’t have o go to a chiropractor but I do—and I guess I’d rather put out money for chiropractic care than for pain pills or having to, in the future, have neck and back surgery.  I don’t believe that chiropractic work is the magic cure-all—but I know how it does affect my body—and that it’s not all in my head.

GARY GARRELLS

For a year I had chronic pain in my back and shoulder, with tingling pain radiating down my left arm into my fingers.  I had great difficulty sleeping due to the pain and I could not use my left arm.

I saw a medical doctor who prescribed pain killers, expecting the condition to correct itself.  Then I saw a physical therapist for awhile with no effect.  Then I had some acupuncture treatment which did not help either.  I was taking lots of ibuprofen, which was beginning to lead to stomach problems.

Finally, my doctor suggested I try seeing a chiropractor.  Two friends told me to try Khalsa Chiropractic and that Dr. Mha Atma could be a “miracle worker.”  I had never been to a chiropractor before.  I was doubtful.

Dr. Mha Atma seemed unassuming, modest and low key.  I had low expectations.  He recommended regular treatment for awhile and told me to be patient.  My symptoms improved very slowly over a period of three months, but eventually they got much better.  Now, six months after beginning treatment, my pain has almost completely disappeared with only very occasional and slight residuals.  Most days I forget I ever had a problem.

My sister has been to a chiropractor for back problems she suffered after an auto accident.  It definitely helped her.  I have been telling other people about my experience.  I now recommend chiropractic care.  I am a convert!

TIM FITZGIBBON

I had pretty extreme constant lower back pain—I could barely drive my car to work.  I was in pain for two weeks.  I could not walk without a limp, I could barely drive, and I could not find a comfortable position to sleep.  It just hurt all the time.  Advil didn’t help.

It got to the point where my friends could not stand to hear my complaining any more.  They convinced me to see Dr. Mha Atma.  I had never been to a chiropractor before and I really didn’t know what to think.

When I arrived, I was greeted by a really nice and professional staff.  The office was warm—literally and figuratively.  It’s almost like going over to a friend’s house.  Dr. Mha Atma recommended chiropractic adjustments…and exercises!  He gave me a different one every week for the first few weeks.

My results were amazing!  I felt relief after the second and especially the third visit.  I feel great now.  I’m working with no problem and pitching again for my baseball team.  I am really relieved—and so glad that chiropractic works.  I didn’t think my back would ever feel “normal” again.

I would absolutely recommend chiropractic to anyone.  I have talked about it to my whole baseball team, my wife, and my work partner.  I always feel comfortable coming in here.  I’m amazed at how much the back exercises have helped as well.  Follow the doctor’s recommendations and you will feel better!
